Arthro ID steps out of stealth

We have spent two years working with surgeons in Belgium and the United States. Here is what we have been building.

Arthro ID has kept quiet since we started. Today we are saying publicly what we have been working on: Knee ID, a pre-operative digital twin for total knee replacement.

Why we started

Knee replacement is one of the most successful operations in orthopaedics. It also leaves a stubborn share of patients unhappy. Much of that comes back to the patellofemoral joint: pain at the front of the knee, a kneecap that does not track properly, and the feeling that the knee never quite belongs to the patient.

Planning software has not really caught up. The tools a surgeon has today keep getting better at the tibiofemoral joint, and still treat the patella as something to sort out once the knee is open. The two joints affect each other. Planning one of them well is not the same as planning the knee.

What we are building

Knee ID is a digital twin of the patient's knee. We are building it to deal with the forgotten joint of knee replacement surgery, and in the end to make it a forgotten joint: one the patient never has cause to think about again.

Knee ID is Software as a Medical Device and is still in development. It is not CE marked, has not been cleared by the FDA, and is not available for sale.

If you do these operations and have a view on the patella, or you want to know what the platform can already do, write to Matthias at matthias@arthroid.ai. Surgeon feedback has shaped every version of this product so far.
